Light Brown Sugar or Dark Brown Sugar?

Light brown sugar has fewer molasses and is a lower moisture content brown sugar, while dark brown sugar has a higher molasses content and is also full of more moisture. Either one you choose will work, but we recommend using dark brown sugar because of the richer caramelly taste when compared to the subtle light brown sugar taste. Also syrup in mind, the dark brown sugar version will have a darker color, while the light brown sugar color will be more of a caramel color.

*The syrup will last generally around 3-4 weeks in the refrigerator, make sure to test the quality of the syrup before using, and if anything seems off toss it out and dont feel bad. it’s a simpler recipe to make if in a time crunch.

Also, keep in mind when brown sugar syrup is refrigerated it will be thicker and harder to use if you made a think version of the recipe. This is why we recommend creating. thinner recipe if you plan on storing it in the fridge

Recipe calls for

  • 1 cup of dark brown sugar – packed
  • 1 cup of filters water
  • 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice (helps enhance the taste and freshness)
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt (brings out the sweetness)

Step 1: Add all ingredients except lemon and stir

Step 2: Let mixture bubble for 5 minutes and then lower to simmer for 5 minutes

Instructions

Warning: Ingredients and steps will be hot! Always practise safety with hot objects and ingredients

  1. In a small saucepan add all your ingredients except for the lemon, add that at the end
  2. Raise heat to medium and continue to stir frequently, let bubble for 5 minutes, then lower heat and simmer for 5 minutes
  3. Continue stirring as it dissolves fully and adds lemon juice
  4. let cool down and check consistency if it’s to your liking, if you prefer it thicker continue to simmer and watch it thicken, we always recommend removing it before it reaches your desired consistency because it will thicken up when it cools down and when refrigerated.
  5. Pour contents into a small glass jar and wallah you’re done ☺️

Cinnamon and Brown Sugar Syrup Recipe

This recipe is perfect for the Iced brown sugar oatmilk shaken espresso starbucks copycat recipe! 

Recipe calls for:

  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 or 2 cinnamon sticks or 1.5 teaspoons of cinnamon ground powder

  1. In a small saucepan combine all ingredients except the vanilla extract and lemon juice
  2. Turn on the heat to low and continue to stir brown sugar until it dissolves, when dissolved fully, lower heat to simmer and simmer for 1 minute. Remove off heat and syrup and sit for 35 minutes.
  3. Remove cinnamon sticks, add lemon juice and vanilla extract and stir thoroughly
  4. Let cool down and then pour into an airtight jar and place in the fridge for up to 3-4 weeks.

Creamy and Delicious Vanilla & Brown Sugar Syrup Recipe

Recipe calls for

  • 3/4 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/4 condensed milk – can switch out with coconut condensed milk but it will change the flavor a bit
  • 1/4 cup of filtered water
  • 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla

Instructions:

Step 1: Add all ingredients except lemon juice and vanilla and stir

  4. Add lemon juice and vanilla and stir
  5. Let cool down, then pour into glass container and store in fridge up to 10-14 days

How to make thick brown sugar syrup

  1. The key to making a thicker syrup is to bring the mixture to a bubble for 3 minutes while stirring frequently.
  2. Then reduce to low/simmer and stir until the desired consistency is reached.
  3. Keep in mind the syrup will thicken quickly and remove the mixture from the heat as soon as it’s almost ready. The reason because in the fridge it thickens up, and the last thing you want is to have to microwave it to loosen it up again.
