Commonly asked questions for making pumpkin spice coffee
What is pumpkin spice coffee?
Pumpkin spice coffee is basically just pumpkin spice flavored coffee. You can add in spices, extracts, creamers, or even make your coffee using
What is a pumpkin spice latte?
A pumpkin spice latte is exactly as the name suggests which is a pumpkin spice flavored latte. You can use spices, extracts, syrups, or creamer to flavor it giving it that fall festive pumpkin spice taste. And a latte is made of steamed milk, frothed milk, and espresso. So you can imagine flavoring any of these aspects of a latte to taste like pumpkin spice.
Is pumpkin spice cold brew the same as pumpkin spice iced coffee?
Pumpkin spice cold brew is not the same thing as a pumpkin spice iced coffee. Iced coffee is brewed hot and then poured over ice. While cold brew on the other hand is brewed cold using no heat. The ingredients used for flavoring may be the same but the brewing methods are different offering different tasting brews.
What’s better store-bought or homemade pumpkin spice coffee?
This is a very subjective question and everyone has their own opinions. However, for us, nothing beats homemade pumpkin spice coffee. You can add your own spice to it (literally) and make the drink as sweet as you like it. We don’t like our drinks to be too sweet or overbearing in the sense that you only taste pumpkin spice and can’t taste the espresso in the drink so for us homemade takes the win.
Which coffee chain has the best pumpkin spice latte?
Everyone has their own opinions on this and no chain has the perfect PSL because they’re often too sweet or the pumpkin or espresso is too overbearing. With that said Starbucks definitely comes in first for the best pumpkin spice latte, but we do have to ask for it to be half sweet otherwise its just too sweet for us. Others that come close are Peets Coffee and Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf.
Is pumpkin spice coffee made with flavored creamer or flavored beans?
It can be either as there are so many ways to flavor your coffee into the perfect tasting pumpkin spice coffee. You can flavor your coffee in so many different ways from using pumpkin spice flavored beans or ground coffee. You can also use extracts, syrups, spices, and creamers to give it that pumpkin spice taste as well.
What coffee roast is best for making pumpkin spice cold brew?
When making any kind of cold brew you’ll definitely want to use a dark roast or medium dark roast. This is because dark and medium dark roasts hold their profile a lot better over time and typically cold brews are kept in the fridge for over a week which can result in lost flavor over time. This is also important because of how cold brews are made. Cold brews as the name suggests are brewed cold which really brings out the profile of the darker roasts.
A lighter roast when being cold brewed might lose its profile and show more acidic properties. Dark roasts having such a strong profile is also important because you will most likely end up diluting or flavoring your cold brew with milk, water, creamer, or other flavors and you want the profile of the coffee to withstand and supplement this extra flavoring you’re adding rather than to be drowned out by these additives.
When does the pumpkin spice latte come back to Starbucks?
While there is no official release date for the Starbucks PSL we can only speculate that Starbucks will follow previous years and release it at the end of August. So hopefully within the last week of August, we will have our precious Pumpkin Spice Lattes back at Starbucks locations everywhere.
Why aren’t pumpkin spice lattes around year long?
Pumpkin spice lattes are only around during seasonal periods for a few reasons. One reason is to get customers excited and make them want to visit their store. Another reason is that while pumpkin spice is a very popular flavor it just isn’t one of those flavors that is going to sell well year round or that people will want to drink in May for example.
