Pumpkin Spice Creamer FAQ
Can you get pumpkin spice creamer year-round?
Store-bought pumpkin spice creamer unfortunately is typically a seasonal-only type of item. So, what that means is it’s usually only available for certain times of the year which in this case is the fall festive months. Most stores start selling these creamers around late August- early September up until December when they start bringing out Christmas flavors like peppermint and eggnog. The fact that pumpkin spice creamer is seasonal is outrageous and that is purely the reason for creating our own recipe. This recipe is easy to make and most importantly it’s accessible year-round for us to make and enjoy!
Is Starbucks pumpkin spice creamer seasonal?
Yes, Starbucks knows that people are die-hard fans of their seasonal stuff. The fact that their seasonal flavors are limited and only sold at certain times of the year is part of the reason they’re so popular and Starbucks knows this. If these flavors were available year round they wouldn’t be as popular so they make us wait until the season is right.
What is pumpkin spice coffee creamer?
Pumpkin spice coffee creamer is made using a creamy base and pumpkin spice flavoring. The flavor is usually only sold during the fall festive months of the year and is one of the most popular creamer flavors existing. Simply find your favorite creamer at the store or make your own, add it to your coffee and enjoy a pumpkin spice-flavored beverage.
What goes in pumpkin spice creamer?
Pumpkin spice creamer like any other creamer is made from a thick creamy base such as heavy cream, half and half, or even whole milk. Other non-dairy bases such as coconut milk or soy milk will work as well to make a vegan pumpkin spice coffee creamer.
How do you make pumpkin spice creamer?
Pumpkin spice creamer is a very simple and easy recipe to follow. Its ingredients are easily found year-round and it’s pretty inexpensive to make as well. You simply need a creamy base made from any type of milk (dairy or non-dairy) or cream. To flavor it you need pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling, pumpkin spice, and vanilla extract. 4 ingredients are all it takes to make this tasty festive creamer. Optional things to add to your creamer are other flavorings like almond extract or even adding sweeteners like sugar or honey to it.
Do you use pumpkin puree or pumpkin pie filling for pumpkin spice creamer?
Pumpkin puree is the best thing to use for most pumpkin recipes that aren’t pumpkin pie. If you end up using pumpkin pie filling your creamer can come out too sweet because most pie fillings have a lot of sugar in them. And pumpkin pie filling is usually already flavored with spices so there may be a spice in there that it has too much of or that may not pair well with what you’re using it for. Pumpkin puree is just plain pureed pumpkin with no spices or added sugar.

Pumpkin Spice Coffee Creamer ingredients
Creamy base: heavy cream, milk, half and half, coconut milk, soy milk, almond milk, etc.
- Using a thicker creamier base will give for a more creamer-like consistency while a thinner base will give you a more runny creamer.
Pumpkin puree: any canned pumpkin puree will work.
- Be sure to use pumpkin puree and NOT pumpkin pie filling. Pumpkin pie filling typically is already flavored and sweetened so it can lead you to make too sweet of a creamer. Plus, this recipe is made for using pumpkin puree. So, if you combine this recipe with a pumpkin pie filling it’ll most likely come out too sweet and too flavorful as pumpkin pie filling is already flavored and sweetened.
Pumpkin spice powder: homemade or store-bought will work just fine.
- You can buy a store-bought pumpkin spice powder or you can make your own using a simple recipe that we linked below.
Vanilla extract:
- Vanilla really pairs well with pumpkin spice flavoring and compliments and adds to the flavor profile of the creamer. You can use other flavorings if desired like almond extract or rum.
Sweetener: any type of sweetener will work.
- The best that pair with this recipe however are brown sugar, honey, and maple syrup.

Recipe Calls For
1 cup Heavy cream, half and half, milk (really any dairy or non-dairy base you wish to use). A thicker base such as heavy cream will give your creamer a thicker creamier consistency.
2 tbsp pumpkin puree
1 tsp pumpkin spice (Homemade Pumpkin Spice Powder) or 2 tbs of our Homemade Pumpkin Spice Syrup!
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Optional if desired:
Sugar
Maple syrup
Yields approx: 4 servings
Serving size: 1/4 cup
How to make:
In a saucepan heat your milk on low heat so you don’t burn it. Once hot stir in your pumpkin puree, pumpkin spice powder, and any sweeteners you may desire such as sugar or maple syrup.
Recipe notes:
- Be sure to use pumpkin puree and not pumpkin pie filling.
- This recipe can be made with any creamy base whether it be dairy or non-dairy. The thicker and creamier the base the thicker your creamer will come out so if using a thinner base like almond milk your creamer will just be thinner.
- Adding sugar or syrup can make your creamer thicker and sweeter so add in small amounts. If it gets too thick add in more of your base or even water to thin it out.
- If you’d like a vegan recipe just use a non-dairy plant-based milk and use a vegan sweetener like agave nectar or monk fruit sweetener.
